Field Notes exists because most hotel problems don’t arrive as emergencies. They arrive as patterns—small, reasonable decisions that quietly stack up until revenue softens, staff burns out, or reviews turn. By the time those signals appear in reports or P&Ls, the damage is already done. Field Notes documents those early signals from inside real hotel operations, capturing the cause-and-effect that operators feel but rarely have time to articulate. This isn’t commentary and it isn’t advice. It’s a working record of how operational decisions actually propagate—so operators can recognize problems earlier, fix them cheaper, and avoid learning the hard way.
